This one I've been wanting to get in print for a while, and as we speak it's in the process of being produced out in Cali. It bears the closest resemblance to the original inspiration behind most of Elev8ted Basiks Vintage Series shirts-- the throwback Golden State Warriors basketball logo nicknamed "The City." I figured if I'm going to start out doing some city designs, I have to pay some respect to THE City, New York, New York...My brother Mark has lived in Manhattan for some time now, and many of his ideas are utilized in the design.
It might be difficult to see in this mock-up picture, but the Brooklyn Bridge cuts across the circle (as opposed to the Golden Gate Bridge in the original throwback logo).. For the skyline, the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings are incorporated along with the Statue of Liberty of course...also incorporated in the skyline are the trademark NYC water tanks that sit on top of many buildings as well as the typical iron fire-escape stair cases and ladders. Finally the skyline rests on a checkerboard base representing the cabs in The City and of course the EB logo in the middle.
It's also kind of difficult to see in the mock-up, but the actual shirt color will be a little lighter than the charcoal color shown, the shirt will also be heathered and of the same ultra soft and lightweight fabric used in the other Vintage Series shirts. As mentioned earlier, the shirts are in production this week and should be available in the next couple of weeks, I'll be posting some pics of the shirt once it arrives so keep checking the blog for updates!
